ALTO General Aviation Services GmbH, the German specialist for hangars and carousels, was recently contracted for the development of new generation hangar carousels, which are being installed right now.
The first installation of ALTO's new type of carousel is at Gstaad Airport AG, Saanen/Switzerland as part of the all new terminal and hangar development project. With a diameter of 32m and a load capacity up to 22,5 tons MTOW per aircraft it is the largest system ever built for Business Aviation aircraft in Switzerland. The carousel rotates a circular floor space of around 800m2 (8.611 ft2) and provides space for four to six small to medium size business aircraft or one ultra long range jet. Says ALTO’s CEO, Peter Nikolaus Fries: „This conctract has given us the chance to lift our business segment's constructions to a higher level. As aircraft carousels have in many circumstances always been the most efficient way to hangar multiple aircraft in group hangars, this project prepares us to install these systems for the highest loads and largest aircraft."
The second installation is currently taking place at Airport Aalen-Elchingen, Neresheim/Germany. The new, very impressive private hangar project at this airport, will feature two carousels of smaller type as above. While one carousel measures 30m, the second one will be 24m in diameter.
